Clear Aligners For A Straighter Smile

Transform Your Teeth And Bite Without Braces

Crooked and uneven teeth can make you feel self-conscious about your smile. Not only that, but smile and bite alignment issues can make it harder to clean your teeth and raise your risk of issues like TMJ (Temporomandibular Joint Disorder).

If you’d like a straighter smile but you’d prefer to avoid braces, Dr. Jonathan Bookout is here to help. We offer clear aligner treatment in Evans, GA. With clear aligners, you can get the straight, healthy, confident smile you’ve always wanted with no brackets, wires, or elastics.

How Do Clear Aligners Work?

With clear aligners, you can enjoy a straighter smile and a healthier bite without the discomfort and inconvenience of traditional braces. Clear aligners use a series of clear plastic aligners (also sometimes called “trays”) to slowly move your teeth into healthier positions.

Each set of aligners is designed to fit perfectly over your teeth and to be worn for 20-22 hours per day. As you wear your aligners, they place pressure on them, moving them about 0.1 to 0.2 mm per set.

You’ll usually switch to a new set of aligners every 1-2 weeks. Most patients need about 20-24 sets of aligners to complete their treatment, but this will vary depending on your orthodontic needs.

The Benefits Of Clear Aligners

Completely invisible treatment

Unlike braces, clear aligners are completely invisible when worn. They are made out of ultra-thin plastic and fit perfectly over your teeth. Even when you’re smiling, it will be nearly impossible for anyone to tell that you’re wearing aligners.

Take them out to eat and brush

You can pop your clear aligners out to eat your favorite foods, so there are absolutely no dietary restrictions. You also will take them out when it’s time to brush and floss your teeth, which makes it way easier to take care of your teeth during orthodontic treatment.

No pointy metal bits

Your trays will be made from smooth, thin plastic. They're not bulky, and they don’t have any sharp or pointy metal components like wires or brackets that could irritate your mouth. This all adds up to a much more comfortable treatment process.

Faster treatment for most patients

Clear aligner therapy can treat most patients in 12-18 months, and some patients with minor orthodontic issues could get a straighter smile in just six months. For comparison, braces usually require a minimum of 18 months of treatment.

What To Expect From Clear Aligner Treatment

  • Orthodontic consultation – Before you can get clear aligners, you’ll need to come in for an orthodontic consultation with Dr. Bookout. He will examine your mouth, take X-rays, and discuss your smile goals with you to determine if you’re a good candidate for clear aligner therapy in Evans, GA.
  • Aligner fitting and treatment planning – After Dr. Bookout approves you for clear aligners, he will take a 3D scan of your teeth. He will use this scan to develop your treatment plan and create your first several sets of aligners.
  • Pick up your first sets of aligners – It usually takes a few weeks for your clear aligners to arrive at The Legacy Dental Group. Once they're ready, you’ll come in and pick them up. Dr. Bookout will give you some instructions on how to wear them and care for them.
  • Continued wear and checkups – You’ll wear your aligners for 20-22 hours per day, switching to a new set every 1-2 weeks as directed by Dr. Bookout. About every 6-8 weeks, you’ll come in for a quick checkup at our office. Dr. Bookout will check your progress, make sure everything looks good, and give you some more aligners to wear.
  • Final visit and retainer fitting – Once your smile is perfectly straight, you’ll need to come in for one last visit. Dr. Bookout will give you a set of temporary retainers or place permanent retainers to keep your teeth from shifting back toward their original positions. This ensures that you’ll enjoy your straight new smile for years to come.
